Chapel time. There was some sort of a special occasion for the campus revival. A well known speaker across the globe was invited. Everyone was expecting for an unusual message to spur their hearts. Students came on time. Teachers and staff set aside paper works to listen. Excitement was manifested through their face.
A moment of silence for the speaker's introduction. His eloquence was impressive. He talked about John 3:16. The audience was looking for the big blow of the message. They were waiting to be impressed. Twenty minutes passed, and the speaker was about to conclude. The speaker haven't impressed the audience yet.
He seemed to know only the basic things of theology. Never mentioned foreign words. No new teachings. Neither a heart-warming illustration, nor a greek word was given.
Suddenly a witty, yet quite blunt student stood up and asked: "Sir, I hope you don't mind my ranting. It looks like you weren't informed of who your audience are."
"I was. In fact, I chose this verse specifically for you." He answered, and then paused.
The audience waited...
"The gospel became an ordinary story for you, that's why you're living an ordinary life. Profound words aren't what you need, but the profound message. The gospel begins, and maintains the revival."
