I took a moment of silence in attempt to reflect, but then I only started overhearing the conversations of other tables. I transfered seat so I could be alone, and concentrate well. However, their conversations hit me. People were talking about 'the world didn't end yesterday, and it will not end today, not even tomorrow, because we still have things to do and people to meet'.
The topic stuck on my mind. So I asked myself this question,
"Why don't you want the world to end yet?"I was startled with my selfish answers.
100% in the Christian circle wants to go to heaven, but very few want to go now. Maybe we have dwelt too much on the worldly things, and thus leaving the bunch of our investments have become too hard to easily give up.
I am never in the position to judge. I admire Paul's motive, and I believe many people share his views. During Paul's time, he wanted to go home already, but for the sake of the believers, he would rather stay.
The thing is, most of us are self-serving. When things are getting rough, when we are in the molding process, and when we are at our worst, it's a lot easier to just tell God "come back Jesus", or "Go! take me home now!"
But when everything is smooth, things like, you just found out your crush likes you too, or you're in a new relationship, or you are expecting something big coming, or your boss promoted you, we subconsciously wish, 'Jesus delay your second coming'.
We have become the measure of many things. Many of of us put God in the picture to console God, not really to honor and prioritize Him in our lives. Christianity has, more or less, become a façade.
So, why don't you want the world to end yet?Maybe it's time to refocus our priorities.
